Picked up Jacqui at Heathrow as planned and headed down to Brighton to see Dad and Noelle. He was in good form and we headed to one of his favourite lunch venues, the airport cafe at Shoreham, an old RAF station from WWII.

A lovely lunch, lots of catching up with Noelle and Dad enjoying the the time out from his bungalow.  After lunch dropped Dad off, popped in the see John and Daphne and then headed to see Howard and Ali.  Met up for a round of golf where Jacqui won the day with a great round (a recurring theme!!).

Spent a fun evening and had a walk around Salisbury in the morning before heading off to see Warren and Jude, Dave and Shirley followed by Mike and Susan. Also had a night in the Jolly Huntsman for old times sake.

By this time the exhaust was sounding pretty dreadful so a visit to Kwikfit, which turned out to be not so quick, and £1000 poorer we headed off to Herefordshire for a visit to Andrew and Jean’s new home before 3 nights in a self catering flat above a pub called the Globe at the Galway Moor Inn.

We managed a couple of rounds at two contrasting courses, one very hilly with lots of blind shots and the other more parkland in nature.  Mixed golf from us both but just loved the courses for the different challenge.

From Herefordshire we head north to Andy and Sue with a spur of the moment decision to drop in to Mile End golf course (near Oswestry) en route as the weather was so good.  A lovely course with the mature cherry trees in full blossom.  Apart from the bunkers the course was in good condition and the layout great fun, again Jacqui won the day and some brightly coloured golf balls.  It was a lovely detour, so much so we popped back a few days later for a second round!

Time with Andy and Sue was dominated by Andy’s building project where Mike helped put up a load of boundary fencing and a problem with the ABS on the Honda; a saga which continues as I write and still unsure if it Is Fixable!!!! It has been fixed along with the air con, £2000 poorer but all set for our European adventures.

Having sorted all our stuff for our forthcoming trips to the US, then Switzerland we nipped back south for Holly and Will’s wedding and a chance to catch up with all the family.

The wedding was in the lovely town of Olney, where they live and a grand old church for the ceremony.  From the service it was a 50 minute drive across Northamptonshire to the reception at the stunning Fawsley Hall hotel site  An amazing venue and super reception, it was great to see all the nieces and nephews giving it welly on the dance floor and we were so lucky to have perfect summer weather, even though it was the beginning of May.

Next morning we were up early for a walk up a small hill opposite and the discovery of a woodland of bluebells in full flower.  After a full English breakfast it was off to wills parents place for lunch and a farewell to all our family as we headed north for a weeks walking in the Lakes.

We headed to the Lakes in the little Peugeot lent to us by the garage who will still trying to fix the car.  It turned out to be a trusty steed and did a fine job of transporting us around the Lakes although it did complain on some of the steep narrow lanes we navigated!
