Picked a beautiful day to ski JH for the first time in many years. Blue skies, a marked inversion so we quickly headed up the mountain on the new (since our last visit) Sweetwater Gondola to get our ski legs on some groomers warming up in the morning sun. Delightful.
Met up with Clayton mid morning and managed a couple of runs with him off the new Teton Chair lift before heading across to Apres Vous where we used to ski a lot as it tends to be a quieter part of the mountain. Enjoyed another couple of runs, plus one on bumps in the trees which didn’t go so well, before Clayton had to get back to the day job. Decided to ski some easier moguls before lunch which was fun, especially as the snow was softening up nicely in the sun.
After a quick lunch we headed back out with Clayton this time onto the other side of the mountain. Great choice as we had fantastic views of the Tetons from the Sublette lift and also remembered the fun times we had skiing in this area in years past.
A hard days ski as we did just over 28,000 ft – shows how efficient the lift system has now become.
Anniversary meal was a lovely bottle of wine and picnic. We also treated ourselves to a couple of ski helmets in anticipation of snowy days (should keep us warmer) and tree skiing (on those snowy days!)
