Mike walking along the Bisse de Salins

A compilation of a few photos from the Bisse

Not a long hike today as we wanted to get back for England’s World Cup game, so we decided on a new hike along the Bisse de Salins up to Clèbes and then along the road to Verrey before heading back via the Grande Bisse de Vex.

Our hike was only just over 8km, but there was a steepish climb of 300m through the woods which got our heart rates up! The highlights of our walk were:

  • lovely shared quiche lunch with local Nendaz beers at an excellent cafe in Verrey link to Gite Ermitage site
  • seeing a buzzard soaring in the thermals whilst having our lunch
  • snacking on wild cherries
  • dousing our hats with cold water to cool down on the hike up the road to the cafe
  • the two Bisses, in particular the Grande Bisse de Vex which is an engineering feat. Lovely to see them running full of water, clearly well maintained and in use
