Bisse de Salins to Veysonnaz – Valais

Having lunch at the Resturant Remointze

A friend of ours from Edinburgh, Bob Gibson, came out to visit for a couple of days and as the forecast today was for the odd thunderstorm and showers throughout the day we decided on a Bisse hike. Very much followed a similar trail to that on Saturday last, however as the café we had lunch at then is closed on Monday and Tuesdays we decided to head up to Restaurant Remointze  link to restaurant about 300m (in height) higher up the mountain situated on the edge of the ski runs, which in summer is high pasture dotted with small chalets and farm cottages.

The butterflies and bees were out in full force having a feast on the flowers in those meadows that have not yet been cut and it was lovely to both see and hear them. We were lucky as it did not rain until we got back to the car and we had a very tasty lunch of Valais meats and cheeses with a half bottle of Fendant sitting out on the patio enjoying the warm weather.

A good walk, taking in a wide variety of scenery, forest, Bisse, pastures, small villages and in the distance wide mountain ranges so a good introduction to the Valais for Bob. Tomorrow the forecast looks set fine so we will probably head up high to enjoy a ridge walk.
