View of Condémines from the Chapel

The first bit of our plan worked really well, got to Condémines and then headed down the mountain to a small café at Crevey and then I suggested to Mike that rather than heading down to the valley floor, we should turn round and cycle back up the hill we had just ridden down! 250m of up! Well we took it slowly, got rather hot and was happy to see the small chapel in Condémines where we were going to stop for a break and sarnie.
Much fortified we carried on round the side of the mountain to Iserables where to much surprise we saw the village was holding its annual fete. Great atmosphere, enjoyed a beer watching a carpenter chat about making wooden wheels and skis, then a highlight – the sound of bagpipes. A small band of men all kitted out in kilts marching through the Main Street playing their pipes and drums. Wonderful.
Back on the bikes for the rest of the uphill. Fortunately this time we were not caught in any afternoon rain showers as we have been the last two times we have cycled home from Iserables – it did threaten us though. A good day on our bikes and very happy that my gears now change easily.
Beautiful day and enjoyed the cycle
