Highlight of the ride was the Haut-Barr ruined fortress and Abbey at Marmoutier. Lovely area to ride through with some fantastic downhill sections through the woods past Haut-Barr

Cycle along the Canal in an eastward direction (to go downhill) passing many locks, some lovely villages and towns with a lot of welcome shade. Harder than we thought it would be due to the heat.
